WOLFGANG MECHSNER was born in Dortmund and studied with Prof. G. Weichert at the Northwest German Music Academy in Münster. As a student he performed as a soloist with the symphonic orchestras in Münster and Dortmund. After teaching for two years at the City Conservatory of Osnabrück he became a full-time teacher at the University of Osnabrück at its branch in Vechta in 1985.
In addition to his piano class at the Conservatory in Osnabrück, a branch of the Musikhochschule in Hannover WOLFGANG MECHSNER is a popular soloist and accompanist for Lied and chamber music and is author of a biography of the German composer, Wilhelm Petersen and a book entitled "Improvising Song Accompaniments”.
